  Congrats on completing your adventure in repurposing.

  The places I get refurbbed laptops from guarantee battery life of 20
minutes. As a rule, that's exactly how long the battery will last.

  Batteries Plus has good batteries for most laptops. They're generally
cheaper than the manufacturer, albeit not real cheap.

  I've had good and bad luck with no-name batteries from the web. Some
worked as well as the original equipment, some were barely better than
the half-dead batteries the refurb came with.

  I generally buy a commercial grade refurb then upgrade the disk and
memory before I load Linux. It still comes out cheaper than buying the
good grade computer new. My needs don't usually require a
state-of-the-art laptop, so being behind the curve is not an issue.
