It looks like there may be a disconnect
between the gui and the command line
terminal.

The previously installed core apps in the
panel still seem to work Fine !!
Firefox, terminal, gnote, gedit, evolution,
and text menus Applciations, Places, System.

Specifically, the gnome pull down menu's seem
to start -- certain -- apps, and the panel will
start certain apps, but there is not data returned
to the gui:

problem 2: ( maybe this should be separate email....)

And yet, I'm also a little miffed at "add/remove" software
gui. I selected parcellite to reinstall. uhhhhhh, you can't reinstall
in add/remove software !! But it came up and stated " you will need
to remove one package". I said OK... unfortunately... a case of
not CAREFULLY reading.... but not really ---- interpretation !!

I allowed it to remove one package-- which
was parcellite !! Obviusly, I was thinking, OK, it wants to remove one
package so it can RE-install the same package !!!

nope. But worse, I went to back to the main menu of add/remove,
to do a "find parcellite" and it repeatedly showed clipit !!!
say WHAT ??
