I like to use gparted from a live cd, it's easy to use, and less chance of confusion. You just copy and paste partitions (ctrl-c, ctrl-v)

Seeing all of the discussion about dd, etc., leads me to ask: what's a good way to migrate an OS to a new drive, including the MBR, using Linux?
The new drive, an SSD, will be temporarily mounted externally. Of course I'll shrink the existing partition so it will fit. It's the faithful copying b booting I'm concerned about.
