POSIX-compliant requires case-sensitive filesystem.

Mac (not all caps) IS Unix, in version 10.5.

Macs just default to case-insensitive filesystems.  You can create the
filesystem case-sensitive.

And on the topic of all lowercase names: In the "c" locale, Uppercase
comes before lowercase.
