[Novalug] Megabit DD-WRT?

Comcast sent me an actual letter, on paper, saying they
were raising their bandwidth in Blacksburg, and that I should
therefore replace my cable modem and router.

It took me a while, but I now have an Arris (Motorola, I
think) Surfboard modem, SB6121. I also have an ASUS RT-N16
"Multifunctional Wireless N Router."

I've already messed up in a minor (I hope) way, inasmuch
as the router won't take any combination of userid and password
that I tried to put on it, nor the default. I'm summoning up
energy to use the reset button and try again.

Nevertheless, the combination *is* working. I just can't
get into it to get the list of IPs and machines, which I want
several times a day; and, of course, I don't have any sense of
how much protection it's going to be as is, even after I get the
names and passwords unsnarled.

SO: 1) will DD-WRT run on this router?

 	    2) Will my marginal cyber-skill suffice to do the
install? (Is there a good tutorial or walk-through?)
