I don't recall hearing that.  I've always used a 205.166.177.0/24
block of addresses on my lan and six years ago when I first got
FiOS, that is what my ActionTec was set to.  The STBs got the
"100-150" addresses in that block.  Now the ActionTec is behind
another router and I do leave it at the default address and it
just services the STBs.

But if you are uncertain, change your lan to match the ActionTec.
