[Novalug] recent java exploit

Question,
I've been mucking with Java to have sample code to show should I ever
seriously go job-hunting again. Some of this code is applet-oriented, where
the applets are on a webserver "elsewhere". Hence, I don't totally want to
disable Java. My main machine has never had Java installed/enabled by
me, so most daily use isn't a problem.
So, given *one* machine with Java still enabled, and I only browse *one*
website, where I personally have loaded my own java applets, would I be
safe in assuming my safeness probability is at least five-nines? I don't
even use email on that machine. FWIW, I'm using fairly current versions
of Ubuntu, Firefox, and Big-O Java.
Let's also assume I can tell if the downloaded applet is really my code,
and not something tampered with by somebody else.
adTHANKSvance,
Ed James
