What is the error?
I am pretty sure you weren't using gimp and if you were, that is an
issue-- gimp is for graphic manipulation, not file editing.
Also, these days more repos can be added via an RPM and that is the
preferred method
sudo yum install name-of-rpm.rpm
How did you log in as root?
