[Novalug] question/advice 32 bit or 64 bit

The original specification was created by AMD, who named it 'AMD 64' when
it was released. Prior to release it was also commonly known as x86-64.
The spec has been implemented by a number of vendors, and those versions
of Linux will work on a lot of 64-bit processors, not just AMD.

harddrive for replacement easily*

i now have two 64 bit cpu computers.

at the moment i am running xubuntu and mint 32 bit on the desktop and i
have not put linux yet on the laptop.

should i switch over to the 64 versions?

why are the 64 bit versions of both xubuntu and mint labled only for amd
cpu's?

* i bought the A860 2 years ago because it seemed ok and had a 15 inch
screen and was cheap. should have read some reviews. decided that i should
trade it in while it still was in good condition and might have some value
(i just wanted a bigger harddrive - old one was still ok).

cnet has a really damning review of the dell vostro A860.
