Oops, forgot to mention...when the power comes back on, and
the generator is turned off, the generator end of the jury-rigged
cable is now hot because the cable is plugged into a live circuit. It still
looks like a normal ("never hot") male plug, and a slight slip-up
can create a not-slight problem. And quite often, after a long
outage, people are not at their mental peak and oopsies can
easily happen.
