tux.org was setup an a 503cb (?) to take donations (mostly hardware
and bandwidth) and the charter was education. It has been around for
over a decade. they host mirrors, some websites for computer groups
and mailing lists. a new board was recently elected.

There are spaces around. Our current sponsor is part of a space in the
Reston, VA area. It is small so membership is limited from my
understanding.

There is a crossover between LUG and hackerspace. Especially those who
are into linux because it is open and they make changes to it
(mechanic) vs user-only.
