[Novalug] closing Verizon FiOS router back door (blocking firmware upgrades)?

You can get ethernet straight from the ONT. The only thing you need the
actiontec router for is to provide network access to your set top boxes,
and if you use something else as a router connected to the ONT, you can
put the actiontec on the LAN side where it will just act as a MOCA bridge,
providing a link between the ethernet network and the coax network.

See http://www.dslreports.com/faq/15990 for gory details...

do you HAVE to use the fios router for internet access? is there a way
to bridge it(turn it into a dumb terminal much like you can do with dsl)
or get a straight Ethernet handoff form the ont?
