[Novalug] Recompiling the Linux kernel

Depending what distro you're running, you should try and find docs
that tell you how to make the kernel as a package you install with a
package manager. eg rpm or deb/apt-get. for RedHat/Fedora you might
need rpmbuild, I don't know what the equivalent is for Debian/Ubuntu
(been too long since I did that). You should be able to build the
package as a regular non-root user and then install it as root, which
should add it as a new option in your grub boot manager menu. That way
if there's trouble you can get back to the previous one.
