Simple return? If you are inclined as I am . . . Phase 1: Scan your records
as they come in or before you begin process Phase 2: Use OpenOffice.org's
Calc to describe and list IRS Forms and include data fields with amounts.
Phase 3: Visit IRS.gov search for the form (1040) and instruction manual
(i1040) Phase 4: Begin with the instructions for the 1040 or 1040A
familiarize your self with the tax guide Phase 5: Read the instructions and
references for each line item on the 1040 or 1040A form, then on your
spreadsheet beneath your earnings, losses, with holding entries make new
field entries that include 1040 Form line or question numbers and as needed
list the number of W-2 or other forms and the amounts earned and with held
-- have a column to list totals for 1040 line item or question number.

My instructions here could be more detail and would benefit were I to
include a copy of my spreadsheet from 2008. If you feel that would of great
help -- email your request directly to me. I have used this method for 10
years and IRS and I like the results, avoid tax preparers saying to take
deductions I was not entitled to use . . . and I did not pay good dollars
($250) for a preparer who works to meet his or her employer's metrics but
not my best interest.

All of the IRS forms and manuals are online and I was told by an IRS Agent
that tort related to cases are also online via the IRS.gov site.

Respectfully,

Justin R. Swain, who represents himself as neither a lawyer nor tax
accountant nor CPA nor employee of the IRS. I found doing the work myself to
be satisfying.
