LINUX / Windows Programmer

Job Location: McLean, VA; Requires TS/SCI

Job Description:

Programmer will implement a kernel-level virtual file system that provides access to the data within our data repository. This task may require two different programmers due to the requirement to support both Windows and Linux platforms. This person(s) will write a kernel-level file system module that allows other programs or services to access data contained in a custom-designed storage system as if it were simply normal files in a normal file system. Due to the projected quantity of file transactions per second, it is critical that the VFS be optimized for performance and minimal latency.
If two separate developers are required, then the Windows programmer will work closely with the other C programmer building the APIs in gaining the most optimal implementation of both the APIs and the VFS. Knowledge of the Linux Virtual File System Architecture is required for the Linux VFS implementation. Knowledge of Microsoft “Installable File Systems” is required for the Windows implementation.
BS Degree in relevant field, minimum 6 years experience
Work to take place at NMEC/Tysons Corner
Task Summary

Prototype VFS
Test Throughput of VFS
Optimize VFS for high performance (specs to be provided)
Enhance VFS with fault tolerance, error handling, and documentation
Final Unit test of VFS for robustness, error handling, throughput
