[Novalug] linux laptop, is it worth repairing?

If the screen doesn't work, first plug into an external monitor and make sure it's not the video card. Sometimes the inverter goes bad, not the LCD - this is a small circuit board that is attached to the LCD by a couple of wires - you can buy them off eBay pretty cheaply.

If you need a new LCD, you can get those off eBay as well, just make sure you get a warranty - we get lots of bad LCDs.

Replacing an LCD is easy. Keep track of all screws - laptops have screws with different lengths, and it is important not to stick a long screw where a shorter one was. On most laptops you only have to remove the bezel - the frame around the front of the screen, and then take some screws out of the hinges.

It is pretty easy to crack the bezel when removing it, be careful. Try prying it up by sticking your fingers under the bezel from the screen side, not from the outside.

Igor

i need a reality check

have a toshiba tecra m3 prt no PTM30U-OLGO17 with a great linux dsitro on it. I paid $150 for it about six months ago, and has worked great up to this point. Now, half of the screen has gone dead.
a. Is this worth repairing?
b. if so, what's the cheap parts source I should I be looking at?
(I'm a Mac kind of guy, not familiar with PC repair)
