[Novalug] Video converter

No apologies necessary. I also hope you note I respond with humor,
but I am not trying to do it at anyone's expense.

Try software, test software, report back, tell us what you do and don't like.

I take _no_ issue with people who _prefer_ a Windows application. Although
the quickest way to get a response to me is to state you don't use Linux because
there isn't a solution. ;)

Preference is fine. Lack of solution when there is one is a bit disturbing. I have
a history of people who don't like me because they have this overriding need
to claim they hate Windows X, Y and/or Z, but say they are "stuck" with it, and
I open my big mouth a few too many times (guilty as charged).

If you like a Windows application, run Windows for it, or -- if it's the only 1-2
applications for Windows that you use -- see if it runs well under WINE if you
really want to avoid Windows security issues, and it's only 1-2 Windows apps
you utilize (most of the time, the profiling to get the library and registry keys down
isn't worth it, unless someone else really has done the work).

I will guilt _no_one_ for such. Nothing wrong with choice. Many times people
say I'm guilting them for not running Linux when I'm the opposite. They were guilting
themselves for preferring a Windows app and excusing it in other means than just
admitting they prefer it. I just want people to be guilt-free, regardless of solution.

My apologies. I'd forgotten that some people prefer to use a GUI for this kind
of thing. For that, I'd recommend using avidemux (http://fixounet.free.fr/avidemux/).
Even still, to get a VOB (and other requisite DVD files) from the MPEG that's
generated, you'll need dvdauthor and/or qdvdauthor.
