It came up recently that Fedora 10 ignores xorg.conf by
default (though it can still use it if told); maybe Ubuntu does,
too. Does Ubuntu have the system-config-display command
(doubtless with sudo) or something of the sort? My 1680x1050 was
a real can of worms for a while, and that was one of the hammers
I pounded on it with.
