The file manager sees it as this:
file:///dev/v4l/by-id/usb-SiGma_Micro_USB_Web_Camera-video-index0
It is a SiGma Micro, and I've never told the system that, so it's ID'ing from the connection.

I installed Camera Monitor and Camorama. When I start Camorama the monitor says the webcam is on (it's not). Camorama immediately crashes out with:
Could not connect to video device (/dev/video0)
Please check the connection.
Obviously it's connected. When I OK out of the above screen, the Camera Monitor pops up with "Camera is off".
I'm about ready to start taking prozac.... :)
