Blender is a cross-platform 3D animation tool. You can make all kinds of objects and animations with it, even edit digital video. It was released as Free Software and as a result is one of the best animation packages you can get for Linux.

Since you can make video games and movies with it if you know what you're doing, it's not surprising that it's a very capable and perhaps complex tool. That said, Jason Van Gumster is also the author of Blender For Dummies.
