[Novalug] Verizon FIOS Question

I got FIOS internet last week. I only ordered Internet without TV or
Telephone service. I got only Ethernet connection (RJ45) on the ONT. No
Cable or routers whatsoever. Now I am responsible for the entire network
in-house including the cable that plugs into the ONT. I refused the free
router, that saves me about a $99 for the initial setup fees and having
to return it later on. I do have static IP and that is available off the
ONT directly. I had the technician check the speed and he verified
up/down speeds 20/20. I have work to do now to build firewall and
connect it to my internal network.
For TV I have the Radio Shack that looks like the Star Trek Enterprise
Spaceship. It is a disk about a foot across, and comes with wireless
remote control to position its internal (disk like) antenna. I get
about 17 broadcast stations (in Ashburn, VA) , and broadcast HDTV is far
sharper and better than any HD service I have seen via subscription
services. Of course I don't get HBO etc. but I realized that we mostly
watch broadcast channels only 95% of the time.
The other 5% is adequately supplied by NetFlix, iTunes and Costco DVDs.
The entire 100%, although, has shrunk significantly in real time, since
the acquisition of my new Ducati, and real reality is winning the
competition with reality TV.
