I had not burned any CD's for a while maybe 8 to 10 months and then before
I upgraded to Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy) I went to do some backup CD's and
encountered the CD's do not burn problem.

I was wondering if my CD drive was bad.

So I backed stuff up to an external USB harddrive I have and installed
Hardy. Now my CD's burn just fine. So it might be that upgrading would
solve your problem

I have an AMD Athlon 1.3 GHz my brand computer that is 3 1/2 years old and
I have as Yamaha 20-10-40 CD burner. It now has Ubuntu 8.04 and
Xubuntu 8.04 and FreeDos and Amithlon OS's on it.
