It should mostly ride on bungee cords from the
shotgun/rifle rack behind the bench seat in my little Toyota
pickup, or if in the old 1988 hatchback, then (I hope)
bungee-corded to the headrest. Both those are for in motion not
in use. For left in vehicle, the same place in the pickup, and
the trunk (if you call it that) in the hatchback. About the only
time it will have any real protection in a real trunk will be in
Jo's car, and that'll be seldom.

My concern is that when in motion but not in use, it may
get bounced around on roads as rough as I dare take my vehicle on
-- especially the truck, which has four wheel drive. If it's a
matter of how far my swiftly senescing strength sufficeth to drag
a deer, any road I can get four wheels over is a good road.

I made an ensolite envelope for it, and have lots left
over. I could put external ribs around it both ways, or even make
a whole second envelope to go over the first. (At least I know
the ensolite is closed-cell and durable.)

With one envelope, it will still go in the many-pocketted
case I have. Since it has to have its serial port card as well as
the GPS, the Y-cable, and if possible a mouse, pockets are a
benefit; but with two envelopes it'll never go in the case. It
may not even with a ribbed envelope.

In its presently existing single envelope, without any
extra hardware, it's about 2" x 13 1/2" x 11 1/2"

Hmmm ...If it would go behind my truck seat, it might be
just right. But remember I'm in Blacksburg -- 250 miles or more
from I-66 x Beltway.

Is anyone on the list planning a trip this way soon?

Remember there's always free bed, board, & refreshment
for any novalugger passing through, and for anybody with a
novalugger.
