I'll admit, I was a big SGI and Sun fan, moreso Silicon Graphics. And a
big FreeBSD user.

But I couldn't avoid Linux, since that is where the industry moved.

I'd have to say that for all the moaning about Windows, many of the
distros now resemble it. In many ways. The graphical installs, etc.

But the dependency problems don't exist in Windows. And I find it annoying
in Linux.

And I miss big purple machines.

Linux is powerful, and there is some good software on it. But if anything,
I think I've seen a slow down in killer apps coming out for Linux.

(Macs on the desktop at work, Linux in the datacenter. Windows XP on the
desktop at home, and 5 Linux servers in the rack in the spare bedroom (one
FreeBSD machine, and a new-used AIX box on the way).

And still have a huge pile of purple, green and blue stuff in storage :-)
