 	I haven't seen that, but I did start a long thread on 
gmane's fedora.general about gnome-panel grief in F7, in the 
course of which I eventually dumped compiz completely -- i.e., 
uninstalled it on all machines.

 	The problem, apparently, was that I was failing to get 
any window manager at all. My own guess (opposite of guaranteed) 
is that compiz and metacity were both trying to launch, and 
defeating one another.

 	At any rate, the remedy was "metacity --replace" as user. 
You might want to try "compiz --replace"

 	Also, in the course of the thread there was mention of a 
bug which proved far beyond my comprehension, but may be well
