Figured I'd just update to let everyone know I figured out the
problem. Turned out to be a bad IDE ribbon cable. It worked enough
to let you install onto the drive and it shows up in bios, but made
it impossible to boot from either channel on the IDE controller.
Swapped cables and now Software raid boot in debian works on either
IDE channel (one drive as master on each channel). Thanks to all the
tried to help.
Don't you just love strange hardware issues....
Cheers,
David
