[Novalug] Keyboard/Mouse Sharing

Finally got synergy2 working between the two computers - I've only used it
for a few minutes - but it's very impressive. Performance-wise I can't tell
a difference between the local mouse and keyboard and using it remotely on
the other system. It's nice to be able to copy and paste text between
systems too - very neat. I hear that text is the limit- but for more
substantial stuff I have a server/samba in the middle for transferring
files...

totally unrelated - but vnc does not seem quite as seemless - you always
know that you are controlling a remote system because of the lag/screen
repaints - even if both computers are fast and on a fast/switched ethernet
near each other. Just too much overhead with screen sharing in vnc... still
useful of course.
