Doesn't mean much if your end-users allow their laptops to be taken in the field and sold in a Kandahar bazaar, as happened in a much-publicized case recently.

Or, indeed, if you were the genius who left a USB drive full of personal database information--names, addresses, telephone numbers, social security numbers (!)--on a metro faregate, as I found one day.  I assumed it belonged to the fellow with the stellar resume (security clearance and all) I also found on the USB disk, so I popped it in the mail anonymously.  

ONTOPIC:

I wonder what the story might have been if we were discussing startup costs rather than the cost/burden of maintaining somebody else's muddled mix of machines.  Seemed to be a bit of a rigged race to me.
