[Novalug] OT: Telephone messages to MP3 (FInal Report)

A couple of weeks ago I asked about moving messages from voice mail / cell phones to a PC. First, I'd like to thank Ken Kauffman for his suggestions - one of them was dead on. I tried a couple of alternatives (microphone with suction cup) but none of them worked as well as the RadioShack "Wireless Phone Recording Controller" :

It was pure plug and play. It took more time calling the VM and navigating to the message than to setup and use. Basically, you use a cell phone to access the source. Plug the controller's input line into the cell phone's headphone jack and plug the output line of the controller into the computer's microphone jack. Anything you hear on the cell phone is replicated into PC's microphone with very good clairity. I used Windows Sound Recorder applet (since it was handy) but I believe Audacity would work in a Linux environment (although Audacity would be a bit of overkill). This was super easy with excellent results.

  Thanks again.

I'm pretty sure RadioShack has a device that allows you to tap into your
line for that purpose.

OR -- use your wireless phone to get them. You can retrieve your
message from ANY phone. :)
