[Novalug] MySQL question

I hit a wall in configuring MySQL fro my MythTV system. I built it
using the SLED-10 64 dit distro on DVD and extracted several packages
from the SLES 10 DVD, packman.iu-bremen.de & packman.inode.at. I
compiled the code and then realized that there are 64-bit binaries at
packman.inode.at so I let YAST download it from there.
While setting up the initial MySQL DB and ensuring MySQL was running, I
followed SuSe's recommendation in setting a password for root. I fear
that set something that will now not let myth in. I manually logged in
as root and ran the mc.sql commands successfully. This did require me
to use the root password (for mysql). Now when I run mythtv-setup, I
get:
2007-06-02 19:12:58.656 Using runtime prefix = /usr/local
2007-06-02 19:13:00.647 DPMS is active.
2007-06-02 19:13:00.647 Unable to read configuration file mysql.txt
2007-06-02 19:13:00.647 Trying to create a basic mysql.txt file
2007-06-02 19:13:00.648 Writing settings
file /home/mythtv/.mythtv/mysql.txt
2007-06-02 19:13:00.759 New DB connection, total: 1
2007-06-02 19:13:01.000 Unable to connect to database!
2007-06-02 19:13:01.000 Driver error was [1/1045]:
QMYSQL3: Unable to connect
Database error was:
Access denied for user 'mythtv'@'localhost' (using password: YES)
QSqlQuery::exec: database not open
QSqlQuery::exec: database not open
2007-06-02 19:13:01.054 DB Error (KickDatabase):
Query was:
SELECT NULL;
No error type from QSqlError? Strange...
2007-06-02 19:13:01.106 Unable to connect to database!
2007-06-02 19:13:01.106 Driver error was [1/1045]:
QMYSQL3: Unable to connect
Database error was:
Access denied for user 'mythtv'@'localhost' (using password: YES)
Anyone have an idea as to how to set the MySQL password(s) properly. I
am not a database person and am not confident I'd just spin wheels
reading/searching the MySQL sites. For instance, I followed the Myth
doc recommendations on securing the password and played with settings
provided in the mc.sql file - to no avail.

They run Windows don't they!!
