[Novalug] HDTV for Linux

Also of note is that the cableCARD accreditation process was setup
between the cable companies (media) and hardware manufactures.
Generally speaking cable companies have usually gotten the better end of
the negotiations. One of the requirements is that the cableCARD spec
can only be used in hardware that is approved by the accreditation group
and that can guarantee a protected path (no analog playback).

Since Linux will most likely never be able to meet this requirement, we
likely will never see a open source solution for cableCARD, much for the
same reason we never were given a legal DVD Software Player or will ever
see a legal HD-DVD/BlueRay Software Player on Linux.
